Business Need

Concussions are often misunderstood, underreported, or minimized in sports

settings. Student athletes need clear, accessible guidance on how to recognize

possible symptoms, understand why reporting matters, and know how to

respond when a concussion may have occurred.

Audience

This project was designed for student athletes who need practical, easy-to-

understand guidance on concussion awareness, symptom recognition, and

 safe response practices.

Learning Goals

Recognize the common signs and symptoms associated with concussions.

Understand the importance of reporting symptoms and seeking support.

Apply safe response guidance if a concussion is suspected.

Design Approach

This project was designed as an interactive learning experience focused on

awareness and practical guidance rather than a fully branched scenario. The

content was organized to help student athletes build understanding step by

step, using clear explanations, supportive visuals, and interactive elements to

 reinforce key safety messages.

AI Enhanced Workflow

Content Development Support

Al supported parts of the development

 process by helping synthesize ideas,

 refine content direction, and accelerate

early drafting based on the project's

 source material.

AI-Powered Reflection Interaction

The project includes a Storyline block that

uses an OpenAl API connection to support

learner reflection. After entering a written

 response, the learner receives Al-

 generated feedback, adding a more

personalized and engaging layer to the

 learning experience.

Design Oversight and Alignment

Instructional design judgment guided the final structure, tone, and learning flow to ensure the experience remained aligned to the intended communication goals and healthcare context.

AI supported early ideation and drafting, while instructional design decisions shaped the final learner experience.

Project Process

Step 1

Analysis

 Defined the learning need

 within the context of

 student-athlete concussion

 awareness and reviewed

 source documentation to

 identify the essential

 concepts, risks, and response

 guidance that would shape

 the experience.

Step 2

Design

 Used an ADDIE-informed

 approach to organize the

 content into a clear,

 accessible learning flow

 focused on symptom

 recognition, awareness, and

 appropriate next-step

 guidance for student

 athletes.

Step 3

Development

 Built the experience using

 interactive elements,

 supportive visuals, and

 learner-centered design

 strategies to make the

 content engaging,

 understandable, and aligned

 to the project goals.

Step 4

Portfolio Presentation

 Adapted the final project into

 a portfolio case study that

 highlights my instructional

 design process,

 development workflow, and

 ability to translate source

 material into a polished

 digital learning experience.
